URD press release on the political agreement between the PDCI-RDA and the PPA-CI

The URD welcomes the political agreement between the PDCI-RDA and the PPA-CI and calls for the front to be widened to all forces that reject exclusion.

Unofficial English translation. The French original is the authoritative text.

The Republican Union for Democracy (URD) welcomes the political agreement concluded between the PDCI-RDA and the PPA-CI. This alliance, founded on a shared vision of our country’s democratic future, answers the wishes of the URD and of RAP-CI, which have long called for joint action by opposition political forces.

This strategic rapprochement marks a major step towards building a genuine common front, able to formulate unified demands and to carry forcefully the aspirations of the Ivorian people.

The URD considers that this agreement strengthens the momentum of CAP-CI, a coalition in which we fully recognise ourselves and which shares the same struggles: the reinstatement of all excluded political leaders, the reform of electoral institutions and the preservation of democratic freedoms.

We firmly recall that no Ivorian should be excluded from the electoral process through legal or political devices. The URD reaffirms its commitment to free, democratic, inclusive and peaceful elections in 2025, an essential condition for a credible and lasting change of government.

Now is the time for the Ivorian opposition, united in its diversity, to pool its strength and coordinate its action to block any attempt to seize power by undemocratic means.

We welcome this initiative by the PDCI-RDA and the PPA-CI, and call for this front to be widened to all political and civic forces that reject exclusion, injustice and arbitrariness.

For a reconciled, democratic and sovereign Côte d’Ivoire.

From the 2018 partnership with EDS to the proposal handed to the Minister of the Interior in 2026, the independence of the electoral referee has been the URD’s most consistent line. A step-by-step review, with sources.

From the Presidential Majority in 2010 to CAP-CI in 2025, the URD has joined several alliances while always asserting its own voice. The common thread: carrying weight through ideas rather than numbers.
